Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Clinics

MDACS support 15 Sexual Transmitted Infection (STI) Clinics & 20 Reproductive Track Infection (RTI) Clinics situated in 3 Medical College Hospital, 15 Peripheral Hospitals, 3 Urban Health Centers of Mumbai Municipal Corporation & One Medical College Hospital, 2 hospitals of J. J. Group of Hospitals belonging to Maharashtra Government in Mumbai.

Yearly funds are given to these clinics for consumables, reagents & equipments to conduct examination and laboratory diagnosis of STI/RTI patients.

STI/RTI drugs are provided to all  these clinics free of cost.

3 STI Mobile vans are established, out of which 1 is at Mankhurd & 2nd at Dahisar Check Naka providing counseling & STI Syndromic Management services for Truckers & their clients. 3rd STI Mobile van is working for slum area, covering the area of Ghatkopar, Govandi & Mankhurd providing Counseling & STI Syndromic Management services to that slum population.

STI drugs & funds are given to 3 NGOs through whom the services of these STI Mobile vans are managed.

Linkage networking is established between these STI/RTI clinics and TI NGOs working for High Risk Groups (HRGs) for providing quality STI services to them.

STI Syndromic Management Training is conducted for all doctors of Public Health system as well as Private Medical Practitioners.

Family Health Awareness Campaign (FHAC) is observed every year for targeted age group of 15-49 years covering slum population in Mumbai, to create STI / HIV awareness as well as health seeking behavior for treatment of STI in them. This campaign is conducted through Health Posts (PSC) of Public Health Department of Mumbai Municipal Corporation along with all STI / RTI clinics, Municipal Maternity Homes, NGOs and Private Medical Practitioners.

This year FHAC is observed from 1st June to 15th June 2005 covering the population of 50 lakh through 63 health posts.
